Update: This feature has been expanded in tvOS 26! While Apple TV previously remembered AirPlay connections for HomePod speakers, tvOS 26 now extends this capability to any AirPlay-enabled speaker. Users can now designate any AirPlay device as the permanent default speaker for Apple TV, eliminating the need to re-select audio output after sleep cycles regardless of speaker brand.
