Tip
Share WiFi Passwords Instantly
When someone in your Contacts tries to join your WiFi network, your device can share the password automatically — no typing, no dictating, no searching through router settings.
How it works
- Make sure your device is unlocked and connected to the WiFi network
- The other person opens Settings → WiFi and taps your network name
- A "Share Your Password?" popup appears on your device
- Tap Share Password — done. They're connected.
Requirements
Both devices need:
- WiFi and Bluetooth turned on
- Each other's Apple Account email or phone number saved in Contacts — this is the one people miss. Your Apple Account email must be in their Contacts app, and theirs in yours.
- Personal Hotspot turned off on both devices
- Latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS
Good to know
- Works between iPhones, iPads, and Macs — any combination
- On Mac, the prompt appears as a notification
- If the popup doesn't appear, restart both devices and try again
- Only works with WPA/WPA2/WPA3 networks (not enterprise/802.1X)
