Create custom walking and hiking routes in Apple Maps
Apple Maps lets you plan your own walking or hiking routes — from nature hikes to city strolls — and save them to your Library for later.
From your Places library
- In Maps, tap your profile icon → Places → Routes
- Tap + Create Route
- Tap on a path or road to set your starting point
- Keep tapping points along your desired path to build the route
- When finished, tap Save Route — name it and optionally add notes
From a pin on the map
You can also start from a specific location: touch and hold a road, path, or trail to drop a pin, tap ⋯ (More), then choose Create a Custom Route.
Saved routes appear in your Routes library so you can navigate them anytime. Turn on Download Route to access the route and surrounding map offline.
