In the Notes app on iPad, you can select Apple Pencil handwriting and copy it as editable typed text — no retyping required.

How to use it

1. Open a note that contains handwriting created with Apple Pencil
2. Tap and hold on the handwritten text, then drag the selection handles to select what you want
3. In the popup menu, tap Copy as Text
4. Paste the converted text into any app — Messages, Mail, Pages, or anywhere else

Good to know

• This works with handwriting in any language that iPadOS recognizes for on-device handwriting recognition.
• The conversion happens entirely on-device, so it works without an internet connection.
• You can also use the Scribble feature to write with Apple Pencil in any text field and have it automatically converted to typed text.
